#PlinyWatch: Your 2022 Guide to Finding Pliny the Younger in LA & Beyond

Triple IPA season is in full swing here on the West Coast, which means—yep, you guessed it—Pliny the Younger Triple IPA from Russian River is getting packaged up and sent down to Southern California for your drinking enjoyment!

While last year’s release was a very scarce bottle-only release, Russian River is going back to keg distribution to their best accounts in 2022. But because of current social distancing and safety restrictions at most bars these days, this year’s release might look a little different than normal, with many bars providing extra advance notice and pre-selling tickets to avoid the crowds that we’ve seen gather in previous years. Either way, Pliny the Younger is a fantastic Triple IPA and is a beer worth going out of your way for.

Whether you’re a PtY vet or you’re still searching for your first taste of Russian River’s golden nectar, this is your guide to finding out where to drink Pliny the Younger Triple IPA in Los Angeles, Orange, and Ventura Counties in 2022.

Pliny the Younger 2022 Season is Officially Over

Coming out of the bottle-only release of 2021, Pliny the Younger’s draft distribution in Southern California saw greater expansion in 2022, which coupled with lower in-person crowds, created wider availability for craft beer drinkers to get pours of this amazing Triple IPA with shorter lines, less waiting, and additional pours.

The 2022 batch of Pliny the Younger also seemed to have evolved from the previous draft release in 2022, featuring a paler, dryer malt bill and a brighter citrus hop aroma with less florals. It remains one of the best strong hoppy beers available in the market and we’re stoked to see Russian River’s continued commitment to quality and smart, intentional expansion.

Be on the lookout for Plinywatch to pick back up next February 2023! Cheers!
