The 2020 San Diego International Beer Competition awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, October 6th and we’re stoked that 12 awesome LA-area breweries are taking home medals this year!
The San Diego International Beer Competition is one of the largest and most competitive brewing contests held in Southern California each year. The event typically coincides with the San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in early summer, but due to the uncertainty of COVID-19, the event was postponed to a later date.
After the details were worked out with beer entry deliveries by late August and socially distanced judging in mid-September, plans were made for a virtual awards ceremony on October 6th.
While things are never the same as they are in-person, there was a lot to be excited about with this year’s winners. Here’s a list of the LA brewery winners from the 2020 San Diego International Beer Competition:

Congratulations to ALL the winners and participating breweries. While winning a medal is a great accomplishment, it is by no means a prerequisite for brewing great beer. It just goes to show how robust the Southern California craft brewing community is now, and how far Los Angeles has come as a compelling craft beer destination.
So while you’re out there drinking some of these 2020 SD International Beer Competition award-winning beers around Los Angeles, you should also be purchasing beers from the dozens of other awesome LA breweries out there as well.
