The World Beer Cup awards ceremony was held Thursday night, and brought good news to a number of local breweries. LA, Ventura, and Orange County breweries combined for 15 medals.
The big winners for the evening were gold medalers Highland Park Brewery (Chinatown), which won for Hello, LA in the International Pale Ale category, 1886 Brewing Co. (Orange), for Record Beer in the Brown Porter Category, Pizza Port Brewing (San Clemente), for Dusk til Dawn in the Coffee Stout or Porter category, and Lost Winds Brewing Co. (San Clemente), for Beach Hoppin’ Pale in the Australian-Style Pale Ale category.
The ceremony was held Thursday night in Minneapolis, MN. The awards are considered among the most prestigious honors in the brewing industry. 10,582 beers were entered from over 2400 breweries in 56 countries. The Beer Cup has 103 categories – 14 of which featured winners from the Southern California area – judged by a panel of around 200 beer professionals.
