If you didn’t get enough of last year’s massive All Together collab, you’re in luck — one Los Angeles brewery has already staged a sequel.
Last week, Highland Park Brewery brought the well-received fundraising beer back for a reprisal. The second iteration of their All Together IPA is for sale through HPB’s online store, with the tasty brew keeping the same recipe for the new release.
Just like in 2020, proceeds from this year’s All Together will once again help keep HPB’s staff afloat amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This time around, customers will also have the option of adding additional donations to their purchase. Those extra contributions will not only still go to the staff, who saw “their hours and income severely reduced due to the shutdowns,” according to a statement from the brewery, but HPB will match them.
All Together is a worldwide, open-ended collaboration that Brooklyn’s Other Half Brewing dreamt up in the early days of the pandemic to help support hospitality professionals. So far, 855 breweries in all 50 states and 53 countries have participated in the project.
The base recipe was created by Other Half and could be brewed as a hazy or West Coast-style IPA, with OH encouraging participating breweries to put their own spins on the beer. Highland Park’s dank yet tropical, 6.5% ABV version is a hazy brewed with Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe, and Cascade hops.
Like all Southland breweries, HPB was hit hard by the pandemic, as Los Angeles County held firm to the strictest closure regulations in all of California through last summer and early fall. Allowed to reopen with restrictions in October, a surge in COVID-19 cases brought about another round of closures and stay-at-home orders to not only the Los Angeles-area but the entire state.
On Nov. 25, the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health announced that restaurants, breweries, and wineries could only offer food and beverages through takeout, drive-thru, or delivery services. Then 15 days later, all temporary outdoor seating was suspended. In December, the greater Los Angeles area was reported as the hardest hit metropolitan area in the United States, according to Bloomberg.
HPB is still closed to customers, save for to-go and delivery orders. The 2021 All Together dropped on Jan. 9 and is available in four-packs for $19. In addition to All Together, HPB’s most recent releases are Thunderbolt Gold (a 4.8%ABV Helles lager), Strata Aerobics (a 7%ABV IPA hopped with Strata), and No Rest and Deep Sleep (two barrel-aged versions of their Imperial Stout collab with Three Chiefs Brewing Co.).
