DOING GOOD: Beachwood Brewing Releasing a New Beer to Raise Money for California Conference for Equality & Justice

“Doing Good” is more than just a phrase, it’s a mindset that the beer community, and the world, needs now more than ever. In this article series, we’re seeking out the charitable fundraising, the positive movements, and the communal giving back that’s going on in our local Los Angeles beer community.

This past week has been powerful. It’s been emotional, it’s been challenging, it’s been sad, energetic, uplifting, draining, motivating, and more – all at once. But more than anything, it’s been real. It’s been a moment to finally look at the world, the system, society, and ourselves for how things truly are. And out of that reflection, we have the duty to take action. To change. To support justice, equality, and understanding. This is an opportunity to take massive strides to actively end racism against black people and against all people – from subconscious cultural biases that weave inherently within our society, to the gruesome human on human violence like the murder of George Floyd, and everything in between.

In this edition of Doing Good, we’re looking at how our community of local Los Angeles breweries is making efforts to recognize, respect, and donate their money, time, and mindshare to causes that support the movement for racial equality and justice for all.

That’s why, in true Hopped LA fashion, we want to highlight a special upcoming beer release by Beachwood Brewing in Long Beach. “To Long Beach With Love” is a Pilsner with Citrus and Herbal Terpenes, and proceeds from all sales of the beer will be donated to the California Conference for Equality and Justice. Beachwood has not yet announced the official release date, but we’ll be sure to update this and share on social media once they do.

The California Conference for Equality and Justice is a non-profit organization based in Long Beach that is dedicated to confronting bias, bigotry and racism through education, conflict resolution and advocacy. Their programs are focused on raising awareness, facilitating dialogue, healing conflicts and bridging differences. CCEJ intentionally works where differences collide and conflict exists — in schools, businesses and neighborhoods. By embracing differences and striving for understanding, they seek to build a unified, peaceful and inclusive Southern California, with justice for all. In the face of the current movement for Black equality, the CCEJ will be hosting community dialogues to help processes the feelings and questions you are experiencing. Stay tuned to their Instagram, Facebook, and website for updates on upcoming events and programs.
