Tasting Phluffhead Powerful Pils from Firestone Walker & Urban Roots

Firestone Walker is kicking off the 2023 release season hard with Phluffhead, a 5.1% German-inspired Pilsner collab with the fine folks at Urban Roots in Sacramento.

This beer pours up super pale with the bright aromas of cracker malt, green floral herbaceousness, and a slight hint of salinity.

On the taste, the cracker malt flavors carry through right up front, setting the stage for a very pronounced noble hop character. Perfumey florals and a little bit of peppercorn. It drinks incredibly dry, with pretty significant perceived bitterness.

This is beer-flavored beer with a blast of noble hops and just the right amount of malt presence to keep it light, crisp, and dry.
