There’s a stretch of very busy neighborhood from Melrose in Hollywood down to Olympic in Mid-Wilshire that can feel like a bit of a dead zone. The roads are congested. Parking can be difficult. But there’s a reason this part of the city is so crowded: it’s both a great place to live, and it’s also a convenient, in-the-middle area for people coming from all over the city.
So we’re here to let you in on a little secret: this is actually a pretty fantastic place to drink beer, especially if you’re meeting friends from across town. There are three, absolute destination-worthy beer bars here, conveniently located close enough that you can walk the distance between them (or, more realistically, take a short Lyft or two). Here they are.
Bludso's Bar & Que
609 N La Brea Ave | Fairfax
More InfoBludso’s is a bar and restaurant that’s as deeply committed to beer just as they are to barbecue – and that’s really saying something. This Fairfax restaurant has beautifully charred brisket, smoked hot links, and rib tips I’d drive hours for. But they also have a killer beer list, including local favorites like Paperback (Glendale), Three Weavers (Inglewood), and Smog City (Torrance), plus hard-to-find seasonal options like Lagunitas’ High West-ified Imperial Coffee Stout.

More InfoAll Season Brewing
800 South La Brea Ave | Miracle Mile
More InfoAll Season Brewing is well-known as a gathering spot: giant tables abound for groups, and whether you want to be indoors, outdoors, or parked at the bar to watch sports, you’re always going to find a place to sit. But their beer has really become worth talking about in their year-and-a-half of existence. All Season recently won their first-ever GABF medal for Bullitt, their distinctly malty, crisp, and bitter West Coast IPA. They also have two great seasonal lagers on right now: Festabrüen, their new festbier, and Knobby, their Munich-style dunkel. Plus, they have arcade games, Skeeball, and an in-house taqueria.

More InfoBerkshire House
143 N La Brea Ave | Mid-City
More InfoIn a city that chews up sports bars and spits them out, Berkshire House has some serious staying power. This bar near La Brea has been crowded essentially non-stop since opening in 2019. And it’s not just because of their great outdoor space, wings, and plentiful TVs: they also have a serious commitment to local craft beer. The list changes frequently, but you can usually count on multiple offerings from MadeWest (Ventura), Beachwood (Long Beach), and Modern Times (San Diego).

Nice review. Southland Beer Company at Western and 8th has a great craft selection too. 2ish miles east of Labrea.
