Placentia, tucked between Anaheim and Yorba Linda in the northeast corner of Orange County, is something of a brewery standout in Southern California. In addition to hosting one of the best places to drink beer in SoCal, The Bruery (or perhaps because they do), the city has become a haven for beer drinkers. This town has numerous great beer bars and breweries. These are three of our favorites, but don’t be afraid to stop by any random bar you see in the palm-lined town: chances are, you’ll find something pretty good on tap wherever you go.

More InfoIt’s hard to believe, but The Bruery is one of the oldest craft breweries in Orange County, opening way back in 2008. These barrel-aged specialists always have something interesting to drink on the board, and this weekend is no different. Among their 40 taps, you’ll find Apple Falls Far, an English strong ale aged in brandy barrels, and Black Tuesday, their 20% ABV (20%!) stout aged in rye barrels. You can also get beers here from Bruery Terreux, their Anaheim sibling brewery that focuses on sours, and Offshoot, their label for more mainstream ales and lagers.

More InfoStereo Brewing’s kid- and dog-friendly taproom on Via Rodeo is covered in music memorabilia, which will give you something to look at while you taste your way through their excellent house-brewed taps. Among their many medal-winning beers is GABF gold medalist Robot, a deep-amber, tremendously malty and caramelly 9.5% ABV imperial red ale. For something lighter, but still toasty and roasty, their flagship oatmeal stout Wall Of Sound is a huge winner.

More InfoKelly’s Korner looks a lot like your average sports bar: high top tables, tons of TVs, and some string lights. But what makes this Placentia bar stand out? Those incredible thirty-seven taps that line the wall. If you’re in the mood for a hop bomb, they have options like new Orange standout Everywhere Beer Co.’s Clarity WC IPA, plus a fresh-hopped pale ale from Fremont (Seattle), and a new IPA collab from El Segundo and Kern River. More into something sour? They’ve got Bruery Terreux options you can’t get anywhere else. And if you want something boozy, you’ll find the likes of The Bruery’s 19.5% ABV Big Blue Stacks, and Goose Island’s excellent Bourbon County Brand Stout.
