2019 saw a ton of new brewery and beer bar openings all across Los Angeles. And while we typically like to give spots time to settle in and come into their own, there are some spots that come out of the gate strong and just hit the ground running. And that’s where this list comes in.
Here’s our guide to the best new brewery and beer bar openings from 2019.
4019 Atlantic Ave | Long Beach

Opened in early February in a rapidly growing Long Beach beer scene, Ambitious Ales stands out with their cool and clean minimalist taproom aesthetic, an excellent lineup of beers solidly representing a diverse range of styles, and their rotating series of backyard boogie outdoor parties.
With medal wins at both GABF and the inaugural California Cup for their Central Perk Coffee Blonde Ale, Ambitious Ales sets the standard for how a new brewery run by beer-drinking, homebrewing buddies can hit the ground running in year one.

Brewjería Company in Pico Rivera opened their doors in mid-November, showcasing their straightforward yet subtly complex Belgian-style brews in a warm and inviting taproom
One of several members of the So Cal Cerveceros homebrew club with years-long aspirations of going pro, Brewjería’s commitment to quality and community and overall perseverance has paid off with solid brews pouring less than 2 months in.

A Bottlecraft outlet in a brand new gourmet food hall in Long Beach is kind of a no-brainer for this list. The successful San Diego craft beer powerhouse opened up their northernmost location in early February inside The Hangar food hall at the Long Beach Exchange shopping complex.
And in true Bottlecraft fashion, they came out of the gates pouring beers that it takes years of beer buying and relationship building to get ahold of. It’s one of very few places in all of LA County where you can find Humble Sea, Alvarado Street, Moonraker, Pure Project, North Park Brewing, Riip, and more.

We weren’t exactly worried when we heard that former Stone-Phantom Carriage-El Segundo-Hopsaint alumn, Brendan Lake and his family were opening up a new brewpub in Lomita.
Using the old tradition of running out a series of collab beers with brewery friends leading up to your opening (I wish more breweries did this), Burnin’ Daylight soft-opened in late January with their official grand opening landing in March.
Burnin’ Daylight puts out beers like a brewery that’s been at it for 5+ years. Hoppy beers are bright, bitter when they want to be, soft when they want to be, and flavorful as hell while the light beers we’ve tried have been clean and crisp and delightfully drinkable. We’re really looking forward to seeing Burnin’ Daylight continue to grow and put out damn good beer and food in 2020. We highly recommend you pay them a visit.

The FOURTH Long Beach spot to hit this list, Trademark soft opened up at the end of June and since then, has been putting out a bunch of delicious beer across various approachable styles.
If the beer’s not enough, the space itself is a great once to drink beer and hang out in. Big and spacious with a clean modern aesthetic. Roomy and welcoming for all types of groups, and a nice side patio with frequent food vendors serving.
And just a month after opening, Trademark became ground zero for a lot of the CCBA Summit activities, which for a brand new brewery hosting some of the best and most discerning brewers in the state, is no easy task.
Trademark passed with flying colors and we can’t wait to see how they continue to evolve in year 2.

The Slice & Pint is the defacto second location for El Segundo Brewing Company, located just down Main Street from the original production brewery and tasting room. Opened in late January, The Slice & Pint not only features a lineup of ESBC brews, but a handful of legit guest taps, and some amazing NY-style and Detroit-style pizza. They also host a rotating series of intimate guided tastings and pizza pairings featuring some of their brewer friends. If beer and pizza is your thing (and if it isn’t, what are you even doing here?), The Slice & Pint should be on your list for sure.
