Suburban North Hollywood can feel a bit sleepy, but anyone that’s spent a Friday night in the newly branded Noho Arts District knows that this neighborhood knows how to get down. And not only that, but there’s a great community of locals that take beer super seriously here, from old timers who have been going to Idle Hour since it opened, to newcomers who just discovered Lankershim Blvd. Though Noho didn’t get its first brewery until 2021, there have been great beer bars and shops holding down the area for a long time – plus, that new brewery is also pretty awesome.
Hop Merchants

They’ll have Bavarian oompah bands, a hot dog eating contest, stein-holding competitions, and prizes for the best lederhosen and dirndl. But the main event is an Oktoberfest blind tasting competition: attendees can order a four-beer flight including three festbiers from Smog City (Torrance), Common Space (Hawthorne), El Segundo Brewing Co., and Brouwerij West (San Pedro), then vote for their favorite.

5275 Craner Ave | North Hollywood
More InfoLawless debuted early last year as North Hollywood’s first brewery, and they’ve quietly become an excellent go-to for Valley residents. They’ve got a wide variety of pours available, ranging from the light, the NoHo Boho is a beautiful, crisp pilsner with just a bit of Czech-hop bitterness, to the hoppy, like the mega-dank Dankershim WC IPA, to some more out-there stuff, like Lawless Latte, a golden nitro stout .
