Codebreaker is a 7.2% West Coast IPA from Trademark Brewing in Long Beach, CA. The malt bill consists of Pilsner and two-row and is hopped with Cryo Simcoe and Cryo Mosaic. Helluva combo recipe for a WCIPA.
On the can, you have this rad illustration of a complex codebreaking machine printed with this neat rainbow-colored holograph that pops against a black background.
Codebreaker pours crystal clear with a frothy head and active carbonation that bursts aromas of orange marmalade, grapefruit peel, tropical fruit, and a nice dankness.
On the taste, you get a bitter and dry beer with flavors of fresh orange, grapefruit, and stone fruit on a light body with minimal sweetness. The dankness is on the subtle side, playing more of a background role to make sure sweetness stays in check.
Overall, for a West Coast IPA, it drinks crisp, clean, and bitter with delicious citrus tropical flavors and it’s right where you want it to be. I’d 100% get this beer again.
